Mini Digital Sketchbook Tour!
I often choose to work in what I call my digital sketchbook - a file with a sketchbook mockup as the base - in order to stay more playful while working digitally. Let's see what I've made recently!
Hello my lovelies!!
To celebrate the launch of my new digital sketchbook product on Etsy - the file setup I use to both stay playful while working digitally and create beautiful sketchbook spreads to share online - I thought I'd do a little recap of some sketchbook pieces I've made digitally recently.
My most active digital sketchbook year was for sure 2021, and I'll be showing you all of my digital sketchbook in a soon upcoming Youtube video, but today I thought we'd take a quick look at some 2023 favourites.
This is my favourite one I've made this year!! I love so much about this page, but especially that little star guy wizard! And the cat!! And the colours. I've for sure been having a bit of a blue phase this year, and it's lovely. I never used to use blue! It brightens my colour schemes so nicely though!
Another recent one is this silly spread! I love just filling these pages with silly doodles like this! My favourite is that fox! :') Love a wonky little animal drawing! Also the beetle!! Uncharacteristically realistic for me haha.
Recently I felt like I wanted to branch out (hehe) in terms of what flowers I draw, and needed to practice, so I started with this sketchbook spread of loose flower doodles with thick bold lines, inspired by some of the flowers in a Shayda Campbell video. This was mostly to loosen me up and try new things, and it worked!
In the same sitting I made this! Lot's of fun new shapes and flowers for me!! My favourite is the yellow and red one to the left, and the pink "lilac". This was such a joy to create!!
Lastly the most recent one - that I made TODAY, while on a voice call with some art friends - is this one. I experimented with adding some simple shading to the doodles and I absolutely love it. Especially on the duck! It just adds so much imo. I kinda regretted the thick lines for this when I was done, but I wasn't about to redo all lines with a thinner brush!! I'm not about that life, I just move on to the next one. Something I often notice is that I really enjoy the process of drawing with a thick line brush, but I prefer the finished look with a thinner line brush! So strange!! The chunky lines just feel so satisfying while drawing hehe.
And I'll end it there for today!
